News and Treatment Values

News Value

News value are 12 reasons why some pieces of news is worthy to be in the newspapers, TV or radio. It was created by Galtung and Ruge. Here are a couple of them:

1) Immediacy - News that has happend in the last couple of days or even on the same day.

2) Familiarity - A story that many people will understand immediatly teflecting it's culture, calender, customs and habits.

Treatment Value

Treatment values refer to what is valued about the 'treatment' of the message. I t was created by Burton and there are 6 of them, here are a couple of them:

1) Visuals - Stories that offer interesting visual images.

2) Drama - Stories that lend themselves to dramalisation
